🐬🔪 A Cetacity Newsletter!! 🔪🐬

August! It’s our first Newsletter!

That’s right! We’re finally pulling together a newsletter!!

For quite a while, people have been asking for various ways to keep updated with Cetacity’s work. Namely in the form of a Discord server, which… erhm… maybe someday! But this is our first step in helping bridge the gap between fans of our work and devs.

So, hello hello hello!!! It’s time for the mostly-monthly news!

What is Cetacity up to?

Our big update is that The Moon Looks Beautiful Tonight: Definitive Edition is being released on Steam! By the time this newsletter gets sent out, the Steam page will be up, so… go wishlist it! Go make your friends wishlist it! Wishlist wishlist wishlist!

The game’s Steam Page!

The definition edition is a complete rewrite of the original script. No longer under a deadline and with a year’s worth of additional writing experience under our belt, we decided to take another stab at the script to really polish it into something we can have no regrets over. It was also a chance to onboard two of our writers/editors, Michelle and Doug, onto a smaller scale project before tackling some of our bigger ones up ahead.

In addition, we’ve got new CGs, new sprites, updated backgrounds and UI, new music, and those delightful little Steam achievements that everyone loves.

Oh, and of course- the promised artbook.

There’s an Artbook?!

Yep! 50+ pages of character sketches, developer commentary, and more! This artbook will encompass development from the initial version of the game all the way to the definitive edition.

While the game itself is free, the artbook will be sold for $2.99 USD on Steam and itch.io. We’re including it as a little way to support us if you enjoyed the game’s release; we hope you enjoy a peek into our hard work!

By the way… what happened to ‘Gone Wishing’?

Oh yeah… we did release a trailer that said it was coming out in April 2024, didn’t we… odd!

The long of the short of it is we’re still working on it! Rather than rushing the game’s release, we decided to pull back and re-evaluate how we wanted to approach marketing, development, and distribution to make sure this lovely game got the treatment it deserved.

The plan is to release the game by the end of the year in a fittingly Winter-y season, but it might be a little later than that. Our goal, as always, is to release quality games!

In the meantime, what you can expect is the Steam page to pop up alongside new game news in the coming month or so. Please look forward to it!

Okay that’s all from me for now :]

In future newsletters, we plan on including a little developer’s Q&A at the end. If you have any questions you’d like us to answer, feel free to send asks on our Tumblr, or email as at [email protected]!

See you soon!
